The Question

Explore Newnan-Coweta Inc. (ENCI) needed a robust website to replace a simple placeholder site the relatively new organization had built to promote Coweta County, Georgia. Could we design a digital experience to help convert website visitors into real-life visitors?

The Answer

To lure people from nearby Atlanta and other parts of the state, and to introduce Coweta County to tourists beyond Georgia’s borders, ENCI required a new website. While another agency put the final touches on the ENCI’s new brand and visual identity, we devised a digital strategy that married the needs of the organization and website visitors who would use the website to explore the area virtually, such as for events and experiences unique to the area, given its status as a filming hot spot. (The Walking Dead was shot in Coweta County.)

We worked with ENCI on a custom taxonomy and information architecture so that users could find content of interest quickly and easily — and be inspired to keep reading. We thought carefully about each audience, from everyday tourists to wedding, event, and tournament planners. Accessibility and search engine optimization (SEO) factored heavily into our decision-making, and our analytics team ensured the client always had a pulse on the metrics that matter to them. 

We also paid special attention to the admin experience, knowing that our client needed to manage the site without relying on us or other technical resources for help. That included the ability to modify or build pages easily using ENCI’s predesigned blocks, plus a scalable directory system that can expand as Coweta County grows. 

ENCI also entrusted us to oversee a photo shoot of the area — valuable assets that not only were published on the new website but also used throughout the county’s marketing programs.

The Outcome

The end result is an award-winning site friendly for both front- and back-end users that invites people to “Discover Their Curious.” We continue to support Explore Newnan-Coweta Inc. through website maintenance, creative asset-building and photo shoots, and paid media management.
