Medium Giant wins 4 AVA Digital Awards

We are thrilled to share the exciting news that our hard work and dedication have been recognized with not one, not two, but four AVA Digital Awards.

At Medium Giant, we are passionate about creating innovative and impactful digital solutions that help our clients reach their goals. To be honored with four AVA Digital Awards is a testament to our team’s unwavering commitment to excellence in the industry.

The AVA Digital Awards are an international competition that recognizes outstanding achievement by creative professionals in the concept, direction, design, and production of digital communication. To receive recognition from this esteemed program is a true accomplishment and something we are incredibly proud of.

So, without further ado, let’s take a closer look at the awards we won.

Platinum Awards

Moody Center at the University of Texas

Category: Social Media Advertising Campaign

Austin, Texas, is famous for its vibrant music scene and eclectic mix of cool music venues. When the Moody Center, a state-of-the-art arena designed for music, sports, and other events, was being developed for the city, it was crucial that it generated buzz and made a big impression. In other words — it had to stand out.

We were thrilled to join forces with the Moody Center marketing team and quickly jumped in to help distinguish this venue from others in the city sharing the name Moody. We were involved in many aspects of the arena’s launch, including creating a visual identity, designing a logo for the inaugural event, and creating print ads for Billboard and Pollstar magazines.

We developed a lead generation campaign, running primarily on social media, to sell premium seating for the new venue ahead of the grand opening. Moody Center had to pause the campaign six days in due to generating 3,500 deposits on only 2,000 club seat concert memberships and selling over half of their 44 suites.

Their sales team followed through on leads, closing on the final suite in early March, to completely sellout premium seating offerings prior to the Grand Opening on April 22, 2022. A huge accomplishment for a brand new venue in a city with no shortage of concert venues.

Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic

Category: Team Achievement

With a history dating back to 1937, the Cotton Bowl Classic has a rich legacy, and our goal was to honor that history while also propelling it into the future. But what really made the campaign a success was the collaboration of the Medium Giant team creating it.

Leading up to game day, they got their hands dirty exploring the history, locations, and details that make the Cotton Bowl Classic such an iconic event. They also developed all of the Cotton Bowl Classic creative assets located around the stadium, in the hotels, and on the buses on game day. And during the game itself, the team had a blast creating and posting content live from the sidelines — this involved people shooting video, photographers shooting stills, copywriters creating copy. And all you have to do is look at the smiles on their faces to see the fun they were having. #teamwork

Gold Awards

Ulster County, New York

Category: Tourism Website

In July 2022, we revamped the tourism website for Ulster County. The revamp involved transitioning from Drupal to WordPress, revising the information architecture, updating the content, and revising the design. We believe the upgraded website will serve the county’s needs for years to come.

Our longstanding relationship, good partnership, and deep knowledge of the community and visitor audience contributed to the project’s overall success.

Ulster County is home to a thriving community of entrepreneurs who run a variety of businesses, including bars, restaurants, shops, and guide services. The community caters to travelers seeking new and authentic experiences, which led us to develop Ulster County’s new tagline, “Seek for Yourself.”

Our longstanding relationship, good partnership, and deep knowledge of the community and visitor audience contributed to the project’s overall success.

Medium Giant

Category: Agency Website “Marketing, PR, Advertising, Digital Agency”

We couldn’t be happier to see our own website make the awards list. Our internal joke for too long was the “cobbler’s children have no shoes.” We’ve always created incredible web experiences for our clients, but it took us a while to turn that expertise inward on ourselves.

This site paired our love of storytelling with our rich brand color palette. The messaging was built around the theme of curiosity, which is a cornerstone of our approach to marketing. The reality is our website is always growing because we subscribe to the website philosophy of creating a scalable and flexible website

Honorable Mentions

Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic

Category: Social Media Strategy

Our social strategy for this campaign was built around the idea of “Respect and elevate the ONLY ‘Classic’ Bowl on and off the field.”

To achieve this we strove to:

  1. Drive owned-audience growth by capturing the nostalgia of college football fans. This was primarily accomplished with a video-forward strategy that leveraged historical Cotton Bowl Classic assets. We also used vertical video in particular to extend organic reach of posts (reels + TikTok) and cross-promoted to YouTube.
  2. Refine content operations by building out a systematic program for content ideation + creation + distribution across all channels.
  3. Develop branding across all digital assets that connected thematically with our overarching brand strategy and physical assets.

Sauk County, Wisconsin

Category: Tourism Website

Sauk County in Wisconsin, known for the Dells, is a stunning location that was looking to bring more dollars to the county through tourism. They needed a website that represented who they are and what they have to offer in an engaging but usable way.

Our team, using a deep understanding of the Sauk community based on our prior brand development efforts, was able to develop a website that evokes the land-made spirit of this special region. We’re proud of the website, and since its launch in 2022, the number of visitors to Sauk County has increased nearly 21%. Now, that’s the spirit.

Newnan-Coweta, Georgia

Category: Tourism Website

Newnan-Coweta, is located about 30 minutes outside of Atlanta, Georgia. Our mission was to design a website that not only showcased the unique offerings of the area (fun fact: it’s a Hollywood hot spot for filming), but also provided essential resources for tourists to plan their visit

To achieve this, we paired an extensive digital strategy with client-provided branding guidelines that featured hand-drawn graphics, fonts, and iconography. The final result is a more robust, enhanced website experience that invites you to “Discover your curious.”
