Nelson & Stowe asked for our help with its most ambitious retail development to date: 30-plus shipping containers assembled to provide space for dozens of local retailers and restaurants in the newly energized Tulsa downtown district. Could we design a brand that matched the uniqueness of this hip, cool space?
Through the use of color psychology and site-specific design, we created an aesthetic with a sense of place. We drew inspiration from iconic visual systems from the world of freight shipping, airport graphics, and industrial signage. The visual vernacular focuses on function and impact, enhancing the customer experience through the use of familiar iconography, a simple color palette, and large-scale environmental graphics.
The Boxyard, now a highly recognized brand in the Tulsa region, has become a popular destination for residents and visitors alike.
